Actually, I've been posting ALL of my stuff over on my WordPress blog since about August of 2008. If you'd like to see what I've been up to over there, you can go check it out:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 125px; height: 125px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv-euLc-qwvYMsRC_nGbBUWZda6GPRl_KsEY4ijJWvcuxwKf3q1Bk1XFEP2m0NLEM-jwyewWNwcvEHbyu-FcyQCzlndpEoLGUvwAkaIx75lCrFTKQxPM1RxPSto1bENi_dDig_OQ/s320/blogbuttonpos1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287661022803885986" />Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-49463851698738784182007-12-22T01:21:00.000-05:002007-12-22T01:35:57.534-05:00What I've been up to.I HAVE been a busy busy lady. I've been keeping up with my home blog (I think I'll start calling it that), and I have posted a few pictures of my recent crochet projects. Yeah, yeah, I know I should be doing that here, but at least I'm posting, right? I've been in something of a personal slump, but I have completed several projects. My dad's Christmas scarf just needs the ends woven in, the roses for my mom's dialysis unit nurses are COMPLETE and DELIVERED. I made mom the hat she requested---not realizing/knowing that she didn't want it until she goes home home (yeah, there's still hope for that!). I'm working diligently on the wrap for D, I've got to finish Rosa's afghan, which will be my main project for this weekend, I have a house to prepare for Christmas Day and having my sister and her husband plus my dad over (I've made a dent by I still have a bit of a ways to go), and I've started our friend's afghan. She requested we stay with our original arrangement, like we had for this first afghan of this kind, the ponchos for her husband and her bouquet, but I've decided it's going to be their Christmas present. In the New Year I'm going to be able to get to MY projects. I have another skein of the kinda of yarn I'm using for D's wrap, so maybe that will end up being one of my sister's Christmas presents, besides a candle.

So, some pretty pictures for your crocheting enjoyment:

An OLD crochet project, finally pictured for Christmas:

The finished roses:

In a jumble:

Just one:

According to mom, the roses WERE A HIT. So that's a great thing :-) Everyone was impressed that I made them, they thought mom had at first. :-)Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-9035006359327024102007-12-12T15:19:00.000-05:002007-12-12T15:24:42.331-05:00Don't worry... (again)....I'm still around! I've been busy working on a lot of things. Dad's scarf just needs to have the tails woven in, I'm nearly done with the 25 roses mom requested for the dialysis unit (I'll have to do the green parts and assemble them next, but I'm just talking about the roses themselves here), I'm working on D's wrap that she requested, I've got to make a hat and hopefully (if I have any left when I'm done with the hat) a scarf for mom, I'm going to get yarn tomorrow to start the afghan my friend Cindy requested (don't tell her, it's going to be her gift even though she asked I make it with our previous arrangement, where she pays me for it), I've got to make the bracelets for mom, Bo and I, and I'm probably 3/4 of the way done with Rosa's afghan. That's going to be NICE AND WARM!!!!! It's looking amazing! I'm also going to make her a pillow :-) , using the same pattern of stitches. I've got to post more pictures of things.

I've given in and joined Technorati. If you like my blog---add me to your list! :-DAllisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-43085470706048436172007-11-27T14:49:00.000-05:002007-11-27T19:23:27.011-05:00Don't worry...DUDE! I'm still around! :-) I've been busy with all sorts of things.

Actually, if you have checked in recently, and if you take a good look around, I've been playing around with this page a lot :-) I want to get a plugboard in here too like I've got over on my main blog, but I don't know if I can get another one or not.

Currently I'm working on:

Mom's roses for the people at dialysis (10 with the middle and leaves made, 3 of those put together, 15 more to make the components of, materials I don't have need to be bought too)
Dad's scarf (waiting until I'm done with the roses)
Rosa's afghan (waiting until I'm done with the other two. It really won't take long to finish them.)

On deck:

Sweaters to donate for church
Cindy's afghan (gotta get the yarn for this)
D's Christmas shawl (got the yarn, just got to pick a pattern)

I've finished one installment of the sweaters for church. Here they are:

There are 2 crocheted ones which you probably can't see, plus the 2 knitted ones which are the pink one and the white one. Don't they look nice though? I'm going to use the same color yarn I used for the crocheted ones because I have a HUGE ball of it. I'll probably start that after Christmas.

I don't think I'm going to do snowflakes this year. I've got so many other things. If I get a chance I will though.Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-66442675783539649572007-11-02T23:58:00.000-04:002007-11-03T00:07:26.069-04:00Small Crafting ConfessionI have a small craft confession to make. In an effort to (1) make knitting not just a meer comment in my list of hobbies because I happen to know how, and (2) use the pattern I feel looks and feels the best, I have been KNITTING a sweater. I actually chose the knitted pattern provided to donate kid's sweaters at church rather than the crocheted one because the crocheted one is too clunky! I'm nearly done with the second portion, and then I will continue on with the yarn I used for the crocheted one.....don't worry, I'm not taking the crochted ones apart, I'm just using the same color. I've got a LOT of it....a very large ball. Then I will go on to other projects. All of THOSE will be crocheted. I think, except for a few select objects, I will be using knitting for worn items.

Rosa's afghan is progressing nicely. After my fit of sorting through all of my yarn---which, of course, wasn't as hard as it sounds---I found quite a bit of varigeted and ombres. So it's growing. Not that I didn't actually have quite a bit to start with. Soon the problem of what I'll do with all of the left over bits will present itself. I'm thinking I will actually use just as much as I can in the afghan, pairing up colors with other ones row to row and even in the same row. We'll see. Either way I know it's going to be wonderful, it's already looking great! :-)

Soon we will be getting a new tower, with a nice and fast processor that we can use our hard drive with Windows XP on it! :-D I will be posting pictures then!!! :-DAllisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-67841335600095091752007-10-10T22:04:00.000-04:002007-10-10T22:37:09.408-04:00Updating on my progressI've completed several projects that have been in the works lately. The baby ripples are done, as well as Sam's afghan. The main project I'm working on right now is Rosa's afghan. I'm getting pretty far with it, as it's the only project I can think to work on at the moment. I've got other yarn, but few other projects that I've thought of to work it into. Odd, huh? Well, I will have a project from my mom soon---22 corsages for the nurses at dialysis. And I found/dugout a project that I was working on last winter (the infamous "shrug" long sweater, which is now getting big! LOL!!! How AWESOME is that?), so I'm thinking some of the yarn I dugout with it today might just end up going for that.

While looking at a fellow No-End-Ripple poster's blog, I had a fun inspiration to write about. The blog's name is Fiber P*rn, and in her url it's pron instead. Well, the first thing I thought about was Tron, thanks to the hubby. What a cool idea it would be to do a FiberTron, where the characters are hooks or something in a crocheting machine (I've always wondered how stores like WalMart get their crocheted items, because I can't imagine someone selling off their wares knowing it would go to a store like that---so I've always imagined a machine must do it, and thus this idea had some of it's origins in that---I mean, there's knitting machines out there, right? So maybe it would be a knitting machine). They still have the whole bit mindset that users are just like gods (you have seen Tron, so you can follow along, right?), and they have to start somewhere---like the tournaments with each other to move from basic programs to specialized or whatever is where the needles move from being cast-on needles to specialized piece making ones, or circular type needles or something (this is in it's formative stage, and I'm tired, and just throwing out ideas here, so bear with me!)....

But it's a fun thing to bat around...:-) Nice to feel the juices flowing!

Anyhow, I wish I could post pictures of the recent completed projects, but right now the camera is MIA so no pictures :-Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-78354144905805796472007-09-27T21:50:00.000-04:002007-09-27T21:51:31.737-04:00Back somewhatI'm back, somewhat. We're using a much slower computer than what I'm used to, but at least I can see my email and my blogs.

I'm also now a part of the Ripple Along blog, whose button is featured at the right :-)Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-8163822783053979032007-09-24T16:43:00.001-04:002007-09-27T21:35:21.015-04:00Technical Difficulties
Due to unforeseen technical difficulties, I will not be posting to this blog any time soon. However I will certainly be crocheting just as much as time allows me between watching that my son doesn't get into too many things, and cleaning the house.

Our computer decided to bite the dust, so until we can either get ahold of a computer with a processor speed fast enough to handle Windows XP or we can buy one, we are up the creek without a computer.
Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-17504440183955368512007-09-21T18:11:00.000-04:002007-09-21T19:31:54.252-04:00Looking forward to the weekend! This weekend should be fun and interesting. We're having another get together for WNY_Crocheters. :-) My husband has made a cheesecake. I'm not going to reveal the flavor, as I didn't tell the group whether it's the turtle that was suggested at the last meeting or a plain cheesecake. But I CAN promise that it WILL be good :-D

Hopefully I will have pictures, etc, to share tomorrow night or Sunday.

Meanwhile, this is what I'm working on:
It's the afghan that my mom's roommate liked so much I said I'd give it to her for her Christmas present. I'm calling it a Rosa's Stained Glass Afghan. I'm not sure if it's got the stained glass effect though---it's more because of the different colors and the black in between.

I've yet to make the Daisy Square for the get together. I've also got to pick out what yarn I don't want for the swap. Oh gees, do I have work to do tonight! Well, I might just wait until tomorrow for the square---but I have to figure out what yarn I don't want tonight. Not easy, believe me!!! I always manage to find SOMETHING to do with my yarn, LOL!!!Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-14135737599022274062007-09-17T14:38:00.000-04:002007-09-17T14:52:09.588-04:00Small things can make you happy...As you may have noticed, we're part of 2 webrings (okay, one I set up, so that might be a cheat, but....). I just got the acceptance for the "outside" one. Nice. :-D

My prefered daily afternoon tv watching is Uncommon Threads and Knitty Gritty (okay, what crocheter/knitter/fiber artist doesn't LOVE those??). Today is a repeat of one I've watched before...it's the beading one. I never really paid much attention to the beginning before this, but I think I'll be trying the cuffs. They look like fun :-) I've sorta tried the I cord---not sure if I was doing it right or what---and I've made a couple bracelets using the spiral technique. Nice ones, like this one:

I've also got roughly 3 in the works...ladybugs are a big thing between my mom and my sister and I, and I want to make some in red and black---went and got red and black beads from the local craft store just especially for it---with matching ladybug buttons. I've started one, but I don't like the placing of black beads like I thought I should do...so it gave the effect of having spots. But I don't want to make it just red and black either. I could try the I cord from the same episode again....but each time I've tried to make one of those, it's been really loose :-\ OH well, I'll eventually work them out :-)

Crafting is fun.....Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-80316918249230814222007-09-13T22:29:00.000-04:002007-09-14T13:39:58.707-04:00One more update.Something I forgot to mention earlier---I made that modification to the shell/shawl I made. I put some buttons on it! It looks pretty good, though I don't think it hangs as well as it could with all 4 buttons closed---or just 3. :-\ I really really like how it turned out. Very regal, if you ask me!

I'm also putting as many pictures as I can find in my little flickr badge down there. So, keep on eye on that! LOL!!! I'm not done yet!! I'm also going to TAKE and upload as many pictures as I can, because I love the rotation feature in the badge! I've got scarves I can take pictures of, socks, that nice yo-yo baby afghan that my husband and I sorta collaborated on! :-)

This is one of my big passions, can you tell?? :-)Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-71661380416564566642007-09-13T13:09:00.000-04:002007-09-13T13:38:38.941-04:00Still plugging along.....Ripples edition! It's been a while since I posted HERE, but that's only because I've been busy with so many other things, posting elsewhere, but not because I haven't been crocheting. :-D

I've made a decision about the tablecloth dilemma. While I do like the one pineapple pattern, I don't want to make it anymore. I literally woke up one morning (I can tell just what morning too, because it was the day the crochet group got together up in Buffalo), and decided that instead of the pineapple tablecloth I'm going to use my other crochet talents and make it a yo-yo tablecloth. So, that's what I'll do! :-)

I've completed other projects. There's the afghan for our group member who got married in August, which was part of the reason for the get together, and a corner start that's going to be going to someone where my mom is. I'm also making 2 ripple afghans:

This one, which is a modification of #2 in Leisure Art's little books Beginner's Guide to Ripple Afghans to Crochet (my favorite pattern in that book). It's for someone where mom is, and she said as few holes as possible. I've just got the ones for the points on the top points, not the ones in the pattern (for those of you able to follow along :-))

And a repeat of one I made previously, a baby ripple afghan. It's actually my favorite baby ripple pattern out of Leisure Arts little books Beginner's Guide Ripples for Baby to Crochet (if you notice a theme of a kind here, I wouldn't be surprised! I do like ripples ya know, I just haven't done them often!!!), though it's got a couple painful memories added to it (namely it was the pattern I used for all my ex best friend's kids' afghans. But I still love it!!!).

Crudy picture with flash:

Detailed pictures without flash (sorry if they are a little dark, I didn't like how you can't see the detail on the flash pic one because of all the flash!!!):

And the whole reason why I like this pattern so much---you've noticed the popcorn/bobbles/whatever they're called (clusters in the pattern, but....they don't act like "normal" clusters.). I like it because to make it stand out, I stick my thumb in the cluster once I've closed it. :-D I never use the weight yarn it calls for with this afghan...I always use worsted (it calls for sport), and an H hook (it calls for a G :-) Maybe I have use G's in previous ones....way back when I was making it for you know who's kids...but H has always been my main size anyhow! :-)). Sorry, I know it's a bit fuzzy:

Well, being a mommy, I've got other stuff to do. So I'm starting another one, with a slightly thicker thread, that will hopefully also be one of my entries into the county fair next year :-) I'm also going to make a slight modification to a shawl I made last month, that's a double skein of the same pattern I made earlier this year. It's just the right size that, laying right on my shoulders, it's almost more of a shell. I've got to track down the fancy buttons I had bought for the cape I had made year before last that was a bust, and put those on there. It's going to be really nice. I don't know if I'm ever going to find a place that's nice enough to wear it too, hee hee.Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-90321311554349637272007-07-25T23:56:00.000-04:002007-07-25T23:58:20.968-04:00Tablecloth updateWell it looks like the tablecloth is done. But the thing is it's not big enough to cover my kitchen table. :-( I'll probably end up putting it on the end of my desk, which is rounded, so that I don't mess it up :-) It's pretty either way. I'm going to see if there's any other yarn I might be able to use to make a bigger one. I have an idea, but we'll see :-\Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-53040899710880605232007-06-07T23:30:00.001-04:002007-06-07T23:30:36.433-04:00Current project...tableclothIt's coming along slowly but surely. This is at the Panera Bread in Orchard Park, during a get together for my crochet group, WNY_Crocheters. A member and native of this area lives in Sweden with her husband and son, who is about the same age as P, and she was here across the pond visiting family and friends for two weeks. She was able to make an hour or two for us on a Sunday afternoon, so we got together with her and one of her good friends from high school, and sat for a while and chatted while the boys played and got to know each other a bit. P had fun trying to give her little boy hugs---it was not too much unlike when we were in Wyoming visiting T's family, only P was the hugger this time and not the huggie :-) P would go after her little boy, who would then be very confused as to why this strange boy was hugging him, and they'd run around a bit. It really was very cute---as well as the times when they would be discussing the window hangings, and sitting at one of the nearby tables together.

I hope to be able to post a few more pictures of this shawl. I love it and I love the yarn. I'm not yet sure if I will go back to my original idea of making up another one with the other two skeins together, or making another one with just one skein for a friend who has recently lost a baby. I'm sure for that I could find some yarn around here that would fit the bill also :-) With all that yarn from my grandma, geesh!!!

Thanks again, Heather, for adjusting this picture for me!!! :-)Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-77388135516374178732007-06-04T14:49:00.001-04:002007-09-14T12:44:29.595-04:00Current Project...tablecloth

My husband and son found an interesting and inventive way to use my current project, my tablecloth for ME. But if you feel ambitious enough to go alookin' for it...it's the Oval Pineapple Tablecloth from the March-April issue of Annie's Crochet Newsletter. I think I bought this one from a yard sale.

So far, it's the white you see here, but if I run out of that before I finish it, it's going to also be some Bridal Blue I have left over from some curtains I was making a long time ago. I only ever finished one panel, which is currently hanging in my kitchen window---it ended up being just about big enough. I stopped making them in part because I bought the balls at different times, so the color was noticably off. Well, as long as it's not right up against each other, I think it's okay :-)

What's really funny is we just got a new table from a friend whose mother-in-law was getting rid of hers. It's just like the one we do have, only the leaf in the middle is removable---the one we have in the kitchen is glued in---and it's got a nearly matching set of wood chairs, where as we've been using the red chairs we've had since our second kitchen table. :-) Those need work, as there are spots out ofthem. I tried to cover them with contact paper but that's a bit of a disaster. Oh well, I'm going to put them on freecycle for anyone what wants to take them and fix them up :-) Maybe I'll make something nice for the wood chairs too :-)

I also made myself a nice shawl with some Rainbow Boucle. I'll post that next...post :-)Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-57304767187710047412007-03-15T23:21:00.000-04:002007-03-15T23:24:07.130-04:00Big new project...It's actually an old project---the bouquet for my friend who is getting married. She emailed to tell us that they are going to do it where they live instead of here where we are. It's not going to be possible for us to make it out there, since it's on a weekday, but I should have just enough time to send it out to her. We're in the same state, so that's a good thing :-D But, I just have to assemble it. I will make a special point of taking a picture and post it here :-) I've got lots of other projects I've got to take a picture of, so I can post them too!!! :-S Snowflakes, blankets, etc etc etc!Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-42944941045486771602007-01-21T23:24:00.000-05:002007-01-21T23:35:35.857-05:00Current project....a warm up!!!I always have projects going on, don't fret about that. But, I don't always post them. Well, I plan on getting better with that....

I have snowflakes I've been making that have to get washed (some again :-(...) and starched (and some sent out...to Malta....:-D). My current BIG project is a shrug.....what's a shrug you ask? Well, here's links to a few examples....

This one's the basic idea I'm working from. I'm not doing ANYTHING just exactly like it. I'm making this to be a WARM shrug---something to keep me warm when I'm around the house. Cause this house leaks like a shive! So I'm using my favorite stitch...the basketweave. It takes a bit longer than even single crochet it seems, but it will be nice and warm. My other favorite, the trinity (from 63 Afghan Squares), would probably take almost as long. Hmm....but that's an idea, to use on the arms or something....anyhow...I'm measuring from my elbows, I'm imagining sleeves that will be easy to fold back or something, and out of the way for when I cook, need them to be, but that I can have over my hands when I need to keep them warm :-)

All that for....http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6750

Great place to hang out too :-D

Also, this gives you information on what a shrug is, and other links to various shrug patterns/pattern listings...http://crafts.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Crochet_Shrug_PatternAllisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-1157690590497674682006-09-08T00:36:00.000-04:002006-09-08T00:43:10.506-04:00Current crochet projects status...Can't keep you all in the dark about things, can I? That would be mean. Even though I'm not keeping up on the rest of the things I should (those dishes were going nicely for a while there), I've been able to keep up on my crocheting. It's what DEFINES me!!! More than ANYTHING else, because it's been there FOREVER!!! Hmm...

Anyhow, so, here's what I've finished since returning home from Wyoming (the afghan for my nephew was finished about 2 days after they left. Oh, I hope they have it now, since they've moved in with the person that was holding it!!! Wow...just thought of that!!! One more thing to mention when I call...tomorrow?)...

Finished projects

Afghan my husband thought of
2 pairs of crocheted socks

Current projects

Baby afghan for someone where mom is
Small afghans (squares) for P3's "babies" (P3=another person where mom is. She has dolls that are her "babies"---14 of them, and I told her I'd make afghans for them! I found out 2 days ago she expected blue, and I just got a LOT of blue yarn from my grandma, so as soon as the first afghan is finished, I'll whip up 14[!] blue squares---which can be put together [lapgan for P3?] if need be!!!)
Finish sweater for DD
Afghan for *someone* :-) (almost forgot!!! At least she's only like 3 months along!!! That means I have 6 more to get one done!!! And find the yarn!!!)---baby ripple afghan!!!!

I've got other things, lots of yarn that can be used used used, but that's enough on the project front for now!Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-1151892945881694632006-07-02T22:15:00.000-04:002006-07-02T22:15:45.886-04:00In ColoradoGonna make an afghan for my new nephew, same pattern, different yarn.Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-1147800888971158872006-05-16T13:34:00.001-04:002006-05-16T13:36:46.860-04:00Sister's afghan 2
Afghan for my sister Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-1147800859861732492006-05-16T13:34:00.000-04:002006-05-16T13:35:40.870-04:00Sister's afghan 1
Close up of rings for my sister's afghan Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-1147799142976349882006-05-16T13:03:00.001-04:002006-05-16T13:28:56.360-04:00Stay tuned...Stick around to see the finished projects of what I'm working on :-)

Current projects:
bouquet for friend getting married this summer
afghan for neighbor's new baby
63 squares and 63 more squares afghans, to be put together as one
waiting on HMB squares to show up so I can assemble the 3 current projects for HMBAllisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28158119.post-1147798899772347282006-05-16T13:01:00.000-04:002006-05-16T13:37:35.253-04:00My bouquet/current project
Example of current project Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09349540757656553214noreply@blogger.com
